29 June 1940. Enterprise took bulk of bullion from Bank of England to Canada though the Captain did not qualify for Plate Money. Operation Fish. Enterprise was the fastest cruiser in service. First light cruiser to carry 6in twin turret.
30 June 1988. President, shore-based HQ of London Division RNR in St. Katherine's Dock. openend by Admiral Sir John Woodward, C-in-C Naval Home Command.
1 July 1918. Rear Admiral William Marcus Charles Beresford Whyte made the first Paymaster Rear Admiral.
2 July 1917. First regular convoy of merchant ships sailed from Hampton Roads,Virginia to UK.
3 July 1860. Gold oak leaves introduced for peak of caps for Commanders and above in executive branch.
4 July 1961. 815 NAS commissioned at RNAS Culdrose with Westland Wessex, the first helicopter to carry a full ASW system.
5 July 1840. Capture of Tinghai, Chusan, by Commodore Sir Gordon Bremer (Wellesley). Ships: Algerine, Alligator, Conway, Cruizer, Wellesley, YoungHebe, Rattlesnake.
6 July 1996. Instructor specialisation abolished. Instructor Officers absorbed into Seaman and Engineering specialists.

The Naval Club is the ideal place to stay in London, whether for business or pleasure. In the heart of fashionable Mayfair, the Club occupies a listed Georgian Town House, the 18th Century residence of the Earl of Chatham, brother of William Pitt the Younger, Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Members can hold private and corporate functions and business meetings using our comfortable facilities and elegant function rooms. Accommodation is available in our 25 bedrooms. The Club offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a setting where all those interested in the sea and maritime affairs can feel at home. It is not necessary to have served in the Navy to become a member.
The Naval Club welcomes both individual, corporate and family members. Special weekend breaks are now available.
